El Pescador is a sculpture by Jaume Mir, one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Mallorcan sculpture.
The sculpture pays tribute to the figure of the fisherman and to the municipality’s historic relationship with the sea. Through the volume, gesture and presence of the human figure, the sculpture evokes the effort, patience and wisdom of a profession deeply rooted in Mediterranean culture.
Within the public space of Can Picafort, this piece connects with the town’s maritime heritage and its origins linked to fishermen’s huts, fishing and life by the sea. It is a work that invites us to see the coastline not only as a beach destination, but also as a landscape of work, identity and tradition.
