It is a sculpture by Joan Bennàssar created in 2022 as part of the La nova Ítaca de la Mediterrània project.
The work forms part of the sculptural ensemble El Vincle, together with other pieces such as El Guaita, Nausicaa / Telèmac, Els Argonautes and Ulisses / Odisseu.
Penèlope is a symbol of waiting, resilience and fidelity. Her figure evokes the passage of time, inner strength and the memory of the journey. Within Bennàssar’s Mediterranean universe, she represents the most intimate and human side of the story: waiting, return and the bond with what we love.
