La Ferida is a sculpture by Joan Bennàssar created in 2016 as part of the Ports d’Alga Marina project, the first phase of the sculptural ensemble that was completed in 2022 with La Nova Ítaca del Mediterrani.
The work explores human vulnerability and the marks left by the passage of time. The wound symbolises pain, memory and the experiences that form part of our history, but also the ability to transform and continue moving forward.
Within Bennàssar’s Mediterranean universe, this piece invites us to see fragility as an essential part of the human journey. It is an intense and symbolic sculpture that connects with emotions, memory and the scars that define us.
