El Ritual is a sculpture by Joan Bennàssar created in 2016 as part of the Ports d’Alga Marina project, the first phase of the sculptural ensemble that was completed in 2022 with La Nova Ítaca del Mediterrani.
The work connects with ancestral gestures, community and the symbolic dimension of Mediterranean culture. Ritual appears as a shared action, filled with memory, spirituality and collective meaning.
Within Bennàssar’s universe, this piece invites us to reflect on the traditions, myths and forms of connection that unite people with the land. It is a sculpture that speaks of bonds, ceremonies and the symbolic value of gestures passed down through time.
