Nausicaa / Telèmac

This piece evokes the young characters of the Homeric universe. It speaks of encounters, discoveries, initiation, and the transition to a new stage of life.

Nausicaa / Telèmac is a sculpture by Joan Bennàssar created in 2022 as part of the La nova Ítaca de la Mediterrània project.

The work forms part of the sculptural ensemble El Vincle, together with other pieces such as El Vigia, Penèlope, Els Argonautes and Ulisses / Odisseu.

This piece refers to the young characters of the Homeric world and explores encounters, discoveries and the transition towards a new stage of life. Nausicaa and Telèmac evoke youth, the search, the beginning of the journey and the strength of the bonds that emerge along the way.

Within Bennàssar’s ensemble, the sculpture brings a brighter and more initiatory perspective to the Mediterranean narrative, connected with discovery, hope and movement towards the future.
