A work that evokes thought, knowledge, and public space as a meeting place. Hypatia represents wisdom, intellectual freedom, and the power of culture.
Àgora / Hipàtia is a sculpture by Joan Bennàssar created in 2022 as part of the La nova Ítaca de la Mediterrània project.
The work evokes thought, knowledge and public space as a place for encounter, debate and culture. The reference to Hipàtia connects with wisdom, intellectual freedom and the power of ideas, while the àgora evokes the open spaces of the classical Mediterranean, where dialogue and community played a central role.
It is a piece that invites us to stop and see art as a form of reflection. Within Bennàssar’s sculptural ensemble, it brings a cultural and humanist dimension linked to knowledge, memory and the value of sharing public space.
