The tourist product par excellence of the town is the beach which is white sand, clear water and has the blue flag award. For this reason, most activities and services are closely linked with the sea.
Can Picafort is in the middle of the Bay of Alcudia and has over 9 kilometers of coastline, where we can find sandy beaches and secluded beaches. The municipality of Santa Margarita has a total of 4 beaches: the beach of Can Picafort, Son Bauló and the beaches of Son Real and Son Serra Marina. It is noteworthy that two of these beaches, Can Picafort and Son Bauló, have the award of “Blue Flag” thanks to the quality services and environmental conditions.
Beach of Can Picafort
Kilometric crowded and fine sand with roasted grain is guarded on the right by port facilities and its margin left by the quiet beaches of Casetes des Capellans and es Comú. It starts at the core of Can Picafort and has got the length of 13 km, uniting this with Alcudia through S’Albufera Natural Park.
Its sand is white and fine and the waves are calm, ideal for sunbathing and cool off in the water.
Son Bauló Beach
Urban beach of white sand, fine-grained and small size (300 meters). It is flanked on its left bank by a cliff of medium height, while on the opposite side of the mouth of the river Son Bauló and natural area Son Real, which is a wetland inhabited by migratory birds, insects and amphibians is. Its surroundings are hotels.
Son Serra de Marina Beach
This beach, crystal clear, is located in the small residential area Son Serra Marina, with a length of 400 m. and an amplitude of up to 100 m. fine white sand and some rocky areas. It is located between the unspoilt beaches of Sa Canova and Son Real. Its long coastline is sandy and rocks, very low and shallow, avoid approaching the shore by boat to avoid the possibility of running aground is recommended.
Son Real Beach
This beach is characterized by the fact that it is virgin and quiet, it is very big, the sand is fine-grained and clear, with the accumulation of posidonia rests on the coastline which can reach some metres of height. The size might change a lot in winter, depending on the force of the Torrent de Son Real.
